Lets Get to It!

Papaya, Yogurt and Honey Facial Treatment

Keep the peel on if you’d like a stronger mask or remove it if you have sensitive skin. Place the papaya, a tablespoon of unflavored yogurt and 2 teaspoons of raw honey (Manuka honey is best) into a good blender and blend until it’s smooth. (if you don’t have a good blender, then i suggest you get one. Their really useful not only for facials but for smoothies, soups, pestos, and hundreds of other great recipes!  My blender is the 1000 watt blender from cuisinart and i absolutely love it) After everything is nice and smooth, pour the mixture out into a bowl and head to your room with a towel. If you have long hair, it might be worth tying back. Put the towel over your pillow and gently apply the mix onto your face avoiding your eyes. Now just relax for 10-15 minutes. Put on some music, read a book, watch tv, play angry birds. Enjoy yourself! Keep in mind that your skin might feel a little tingly but this shouldn’t be painful. if it is rinse off IMMEDIATELY and moisturize your face, preferable with aloe-vera gel. When 15 minutes have gone by, head to the bathroom and rinse that ice goo down the drain. Your skin should feel refreshed and happy, thanks to those oh so wonderful papayas.  Follow with a toner if you use one and a natural, chemical free moisturizer. Alternatively, try avocado oil as a face moisturizer for much deeper penetration. if you decide that you like it, use it once or maybe twice a week, and soon you should see some real improvement.

Papaya Peel Rub

For a simpler, on the go way to use papaya to improve your skin, try keeping the peel after you’ve scooped out the pulp and yummy insides. Rub the papaya skin directly onto your face, in the evening (or morning) before showering and leave it on for a minute or two. It feels better if you shower it off while it’s still a bit moist, rather than letting it dry tight. This simple rub can be used not just on your face, but can be used on any part of your body that you think needs improving and its super easy to apply. People even say that this can diminish age spots, small acne scars and blemishes and can even be of great relief for sun damaged skin.
Hope this helped you out guys! Please enjoy! Comment and let me know if you tried it or if you have any other great facials and homemade remedies you know about. Id love to know!!

Papaya; wonderfruit!

Is your acne getting bad? Got endlessly oily skin and makeup clogged pores? Well there are dozens of things you can do to help but this facial and rub, is one of my absolute favorites.

Papaya is full of alpha hydroxy acids and enzymes like papain that break down dead skin cells when used on skin. Regular use of the fresh fruit on your face often leads to a more even tone, better texture, smoother appearance, and even reduction in fine lines and wrinkles! Papaya facial treatments are also useful for treating acne, minor scarring, sunburn and age spots and if used over time, can lead to a slight skin lightening. This is something to be aware of if you’re working on your tan, but is generally seen as a good thing, it will even leave your skin glowing. Papaya peel actually contains even more papain enzymes than the fruit so if you want a more effective treatment you can use the pal rub below. If you have very sensitive skin it may be best to first try the facial without the papaya peel and then add a quarter or half of the peel in the future to see how it affects your face. Unripe papaya contains more papain than the ripe fruit so for a stronger facial treatment you could use a papaya that is still green, but you wouldn’t get the benefit of eating the tasty fruit! Personally, I don’t want to miss out the joy of eating papaya, and ones that are just ripening contain more antioxidants than green papaya so it creates a good balance. My skin seems to think so.

Well thats about enough background on Papayas! Lets get to it!
